Vintage Between 1971-1975; Lilli Diamond; Black Evening Gown.Size 12. But please review measurements provided. Excellent to Mint Condition. Simple and Pure Elegance is this 100% Polyester Gown. Top of gown has crisscross straps, which make for a square back out.The back of dress has a 20″ zipper. Bodice of dress fits to waist and bias cut skirt flares.Inside of Bodice lining has some discoloration, but is still strong and does not effect outerwear of dress. Garment care from tag states machine or hand wash(now remember, care labels didn’t come on the scene until 1971). I go with the latter just hang dry. Doesn’t get any better than that. There are no holes, snags, tears, rips or stains.
Measurements of garment were taken lying flat. Please Double: Bust 16″, Waist 17″ Hip area is free flowing. Actual: Length of Dress is 52″.
History Information: I just found a wonderful Website (Lilli Diamond.com)Julie is the curator of that breathtaking collection. With wonderful insightful information. Did you know that Ms.Diamond is still very much alive! The story is that Lilli left school early to become a vaudeville dancer and a chance meeting changed her life- her future husband Al Diamond spotted her “it was love at first sight”. An the rest is fashion history. But one thing, I found most interesting is that none of the earlier Lilli Diamond garments carry the Union Label. The worker’s were treated so well, they voted against joining the garment workers union until 1967 (now that’s what I call a team!) Please check out the site. The rest of the story is truly amazing. Also the collection is to die for. I want to Thank Lilli Diamond.com and foremost Julie the curator, for allowing me to extract some of the information to share. Thanks again!!
