Vintage 1990’s Designer Larry Levine, Cream Silk and Cotton Suit with Crochet Skirt. The Suit fabric content is 60% Silk, 40% Cotton and 100% Poly lining. The Suit is size 18, but I have provided measurements for your review. The Jacket style neckline is like a cardigan front and back is like mandarin collar, with 4 covered fabric buttons with loop fasteners, 4 front horizontal seams which compliments jacket style. The Crochet style skirt is lined, has a 1/4″ silk waist band, 7″ nylon zipper and hook eye closure, 7 1/2″ slit in back. Their is small Flaw on inside of jacket lining (only) back area, is a very small stain, does exceed through to jacket material. It did not come out when item was cleaned. Measurements of garment taken lying flat: Please Double: Jacket; Bust 22 1/2″ Waist 21″. Actual: Sleeve Length 23 1/2″, Shoulder to hemline of Jacket is 25″. Please Double: Skirt; Waist 18 1/2″, Hips 23″ . Actual: Length of skirt 27 1/2″ from waist to hemline.
History of Larry Levine: May 10, 1926-February 9, 2008. He was born in Bensonhurst, NY. He began in 1947 as a salesman for a coat manufacturer. In 1951 Levine founded Larry Levine Inc. By the mid-sixties his tradition, classic, coats and suits were sold in virtually every clothing store in the country. Larry Levine was one of a very few clothing manufacturers of his time to brand his own name. Levine sold part of his company to S. Rothschild, Inc., in 1991 but remained as president. In 1996 Levine cut all ties with the S. Rothschild. Larry Levine is still one of the strangest names in women’s outerwear in the U.S. He designed and manufactured women’s clothing for 45 years.
