This rare 1950s vintage Mini Batik top-handle bag in a doctor's style is a study in contrasts: compact but big on style. The deep navy leather is the backdrop for a stunning hand-dyed Batik design, with an autumnal palette of pumpkin spice, light minty green, warm yellow, and taupe all connected by a gleaming gold-tone pattern. This bag is fully lined (Moire) on the inside, zipper compartment in the middle and secured with a gold-tone clip lock closure that functions properly. For protection, the bottom of the bag has six gold-tone stud feet.
What is Batik:
Batik is an ancient and intricate art form that uses a wax-resist dyeing technique to create beautiful and complex patterns on fabric and leather. The word "batik" itself is of Javanese origin and is deeply tied to the culture of Indonesia.
This item is in excellent vintage condition. The photos may show some light reflection, which can give the appearance of wear, but I assure you that is not the case. I'd be happy to provide more photos if you'd like to see different angles.
