Kay Denning was an artisan jeweler active in the 1960s and 1970s, known for her enameled copper jewelry. While information on her personal life is not available, her work is well-documented.
In the 1960s, Denning created jewelry for Bovano, a company located in Connecticut. Her designs, with their strong Modernist influences, are characterized by bold, geometric patterns. It appears she ceased creating jewelry by the 1980s.
A Quote from the Artist
In 1962, Mrs. Denning commented on her craft, emphasizing the dedication required: "It takes discipline and patience to acquire sufficient know-how to break through the formidable technical barrier of enameling. Only after long experience, she insists, does enameling reveal its subtleties and mysteries and permit the artist to make competent and personal statements in the medium."
