History of Date-Maker Formals:

The label "An Original by Date-Maker Formals" (sometimes seen simply as Date-Maker Formals) is typical of mid-century American dress manufacturing, active primarily from the 1950s through the 1960s and located at 1385 Broadway, NY, NY. During this era, the American dress market—centered around hubs like New York and Los Angeles—featured hundreds of independent mid-tier manufacturers and syndicates producing party dresses, prom gowns, and cocktail attire for department stores and local boutiques.

Labels like Date-Maker specialized in targeting the youth and young adult market, offering trendy, party-ready styles designed for social outings, dances, and holiday gatherings. True to their name, these dresses utilized popular synthetic blends and eye-catching details like ribbon work, bows, and rhinestones.
