Rare Vintage 1970s Mr. John Classic Hat from New York and Paris. This exceptional piece is fashioned from premium Parasisal straw, renowned for its fine weave, superior quality, and subtle natural luster. Parasisal, derived from the Sisal plant, is a highly sought-after material in high-end millinery due to its delicate feel, long-lasting nature, and the intricate two-over-two weaving technique used in its creation.


The hat's unique silhouette blends the era's popular apple hat design with a more pronounced, taller crown. Adding a touch of whimsy is a decorative straw daisy with a stem at the back. The hat showcases a classic beige and dark brown color combination and features a luxurious silk dupioni lining. Presented in excellent vintage condition, with no flaws such as holes, tears, or discoloration.

History of Mr. John: Was born John (Hans) Piocelle Harberger, March 14, 1906-June 25, 1993. Immigrated to the United States and worked initially as a dressmaker for Madam Laurel in 1926, before forming a partnership with Frederic Hirst in 1929 to establish the millinery label John-Frederics. The John and Hirst partnership continued until 1948 when John independently formed Mr. John, Inc. He was of the most prominent milliners working in New York in the 1930's. His spirited, chic designs gained him attention from Hollywood where he worked with costume designers including Gilbert Adrian, Walter Plunkett and Cecil Beaton. His head wear designs for Gone with the Wind in 1939, popularized varied of hats and brought glamour and romance to women's wartime fashions.
