The stylish winter accessory has rich, two-toned colors of dark brown and cream, which swirl together to create a stunning, intricate pattern. The label inside reads, "Styled by Jack McConnell New York," marking it as a "one of a kind McConnell original." A red feather would have been pinned under these labels. The Story Behind the Hat: Jack McConnell, The King of Millinery

History of Jack McConnell (1916-2007)

Before he was known as the "King of Millinery," Jack McConnell was an aspiring actor from Mooresville, TN, with a talent for southern accents. His entry into the world of high fashion came by chance: a hat he made for a loved one sparked a new passion. He honed his craft under the guidance of acclaimed milliner Laddie Northridge and quickly made a name for himself.

What set a McConnell creation apart was his masterful use of feathers. Each piece was a unique work of art, a "one of a kind McConnell original," as the label states. The hats were so coveted that celebrities like Joan Crawford and Lana Turner were known to collect them, and his one-of-a-kind designs were marked with a single red feather, a personal touch from McConnell himself.
