1980s Margaretha Ley for Escada Pantsuit

This striking 1980s pantsuit, designed by Margaretha Ley for Escada, is a true statement piece. Made in Germany, the suit features a luxurious 100% silk blouse and coordinating pants.

    • Material: 100% Silk

    • Color: Cream with a bold electric bolt design in bright yellow, baby blue, and black outline.

    • Features: Small shoulder pads, front button closure (5 buttons, 1 exposed, 4 concealed), buttoned cuffs.

  • Pants:

    • Colors: Cream and Black (see close-up photos #3 and #9 for fabric detail)

    • Material: 55% Wool, 40% Silk, 5% Nylon (lightweight, unlined)

    • Features: 8" nylon zipper, front button closure, 2" waistband with belt loops, side pockets, 1.5" bottom side slits.

    •  Alteration Details: The back seam of the pants was opened and taken in approximately 2". One belt loop was adjusted to accommodate the alteration. (See photo #14)

  • Condition: Excellent Vintage Condition. No tears, holes, snags, or discoloration.

Garment has been dry cleaned and is ready for shipment.

Company History: ESCADA is an internationally well known luxury brand for women's fashion that was founded in 1978, by Margaretha Ley and husband Wolfgang Ley. The first Escada for women was presented in 1978. In the 1990s, Escada became increasingly popular. After the death of head designer Margaretha Ley in 1992, US designer Brain Rennie took over the creative direction in 1994. The brand launched the sporty and affordable line Escada Sport which still exist today.
